Miserable traffic management to affect large-scale investment in Uttarakhand

Published on:

While the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to make Uttarakhand a place for large-scale investment by the industrialists the  industrialists who visit Dehradun and other parts of the state to see for themselves whether things are congenial for investment are returning disappointed following their  encounter with the miserable traffic management here.

They say that unless traffic situation improves there is little possibility for vast volume of investment that the State Government expects to bring about an industrial turnaround.

lovlina Modi, an industrialist, made no bones  about her disappointment with the chaos on the roads of Dehradun. “The quality of traffic management here is abysmally poor. Besides, the  public transport system must be adequately strengthened to cater to the needs of the visitors ,” she said.

Sharing the view of the entrepreneurs based outside the state, a Dehradun- based industrialist said that the state government should start focusing on improving traffic situation if it is really serious to ensure investment. “Things are really bad on the roads. It took me over five hours to reach Dehradun from Roorkee,” he said.

The tourists are telling the same tale of crawling traffic.  Sonika from Meerut, found roaming around  Dehradun Zoo at Malsi,  said that  the crawling traffic in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Roorkee   upset their timing. “ I wonder why the problem is not being taken on in earnest while the state government  is resolved to stop the problem of migration through developing tourism,” she added.
