Miscreants broke open the locks of seven advocates’ chambers in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court compound adjacent to the police station and near the DIG office, DM office and SSP office on Wednesday night.
Dhara Chowki in-charge MS Bisht said, “Investigation in the case is on but the police has not received a written complaint from advocates till Thursday evening. FIR will be lodged against unidentified miscreants if compliant is received from them.”
Advocates Parag Kumar and Gayatri whose chambers were unlocked by miscreants said that when they entered their chamber on Thursday morning they found documents from the cupboard lying on the floor. Miscreants entered the chambers and left without stealing anything. The miscreants had also opened the chambers of advocates HC Dobhal, Daya Ram Karanwal, SC Gairola, Vikram Singh Tadiyal and KP Singh Pundir.
Advocates led by the Dehradun Bar Association president Surendra Singh Pundir met the Dehradun SSP Kewal Khurana on Thursday noon and expressed anguish over this incident and demanded deployment of security personnel in the court premises so that such cases could be prevented.
According to Pundir, five such cases have occurred in the court compound in the last one year. Despite being located not far from SSP office, Collectorate and DIG office, the site was not secure.
