Minor's teen rapist held

In continuing spree of minor girls being raped in Haridwar district, a seven-year-old minor girl was raped at Pathri village under jurisdiction of Pathri police station in Haridwar district by a teenager on Tuesday evening.

Notably, three rape cases —all involving the minors—have been reported from Haridwar district so far this month.  After confession of his crime, the juvenile was booked under POCSO and Rape Act, produced at Juvenile Court and sent to the reformatory home. The condition of the survivor was stated to be stable.

Police   said they have arrested a 14- year- old boy in this connection. The police medical report confirmed rape, it is learnt.

Speaking to The Pioneer, SHO Pathri police station, Chandrabhan Singh said, “The incident came to light on Tuesday evening. We acted after the parents of  the survivor informed us about the heinous act. We rushed to the spot and after interrogation, the 14- year- old boy was arrested from a nearby area.”

According to the police, the little girl was playing in the field with her friends when the accused took her behind bushes and allegedly raped her . After the alleged rape, the accused  ran away from the spot.

Earlier too, the boy had reportedly teased the girl. The police said that the accused had confessed the crime while being grilled.

The juvenile has been booked under section 376(Rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). He was produced before Juvenile Court from where he was sent to the reformatory home.

However, the common people  are scared with the minors being subjected  to rape, one after another.  “We are scared to  send our girls out , given the grave situation prevailing here. Things are going to such a pass that we would have to  keep our girls confined  within the houses lest they be raped if they move outside,” said one of the scared mothers of the minors.   Ends
