Ministerial workers' strike hits official work

The Statewide indefinite strike of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Association has begun in Uttarakhand in support of its three-point demand on Monday with protest demonstrations in State capital Dehradun and other towns across the State.

The association has already staged three days’ work boycott from 10 to 12 September with the ultimatum that if the demands of the ministerial collectorate employees are not met, the association would go for an indefinite strike.

The Pauri unit of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees’ Association has started the  indefinite strike on the call of the state association and staged dharna in the premises of collectorate at district headquarter Pauri. The previous boycott and now the indefinite strike by the employees belonging to the association have totally paralysed the official work.

The association Pauri district unit president Vikram Singh Rawat and general secretary Jaspal Singh Rawat claimed that the official work in the collectorate and all Tehsils in district was paralysed and the strike would continue. The association was forced to take the drastic decision due to the indifferent attitude of the Government towards its demands.

The three- point charter of demands around which the association is spearheading the stir  are as follows- the one related to issuing government order on the decision of the  Cabinet of 14 December 2013 for promotion of the collectorate ministerial employees to the post of Nayab Tehsildar through direct recruitment, issuing GO for the reorganisation of the collectorate and issuing the G.O on the recommendation of the committee headed by Kumauoun Commissioner that the educational qualification of the collectorate employees should be graduation. The association warned that till the demands for GOs to be issued are not met the indefinite strike of the association would continue.
