The State wide indefinite strike of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees Association in support of its four point demands entered its 24th day on Wednesday.
Despite consent being accorded to the demands by the chief secretary Subhash Kumar and additional chief secretary Rakesh Sharma during a meet with the delegation of the association, the government has not taken any concrete steps to end the strike of the association so far. The strike has hampered official works across the State causing much inconvenience to the public.
The Pauri unit of Uttarakhand Ministerial Collectorate Employees Association has been staging dharna daily at the Collectorate in district headquarter Pauri since September 15. While protesting on Wednesday, the employees raised slogans against the State government and stressed that the State government is responsible for the inconvenience being faced by the public.
The association’s Pauri district unit president Vikram Singh Rawat, general secretary Jaspal Singh Rawat and vice president Umesh Nautiyal alleged that the state government has not fulfilled their demands for the last three years. Though written assurance was given to the association on July 12, 2011 and August 11, 2014, the government order to this effect has not been issued. The State Cabinet had also taken decision on these demands in December 2o13 and recently on September 29 chief secretary and additional chief secretary also gave their consent on the demands of the association but no GO has been issued in this regard.
