Uttarakhand Health Minister Surendra Singh Negi reviewed the preparation of the State Health Department for the second phase of medical screening camps on Friday. The Minister called up all the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the State on phone and took feedback on the preparations about these camps. He categorically told the CMOs that maximum number of people should avail the benefit of these camps.

The Minister directed the CMO of Dehradun, Dr YS Thapliyal to place display boards in places like Tyuni and Chakrata informing people about these camps. He said that all medicines should be available in these camps so that the patients are benefited from the camps.

It is worth mentioning that a video conferencing session was scheduled for the day for review of preparation of these camps but this was cancelled due to meeting of the cabinet.  After the Cabinet meeting the Health Minister personally called up the CMOs and inquired about their preparations for these camps.

On the initiative of Health Minister health camps manned by four specialist doctors are being organised in remote areas of the State. The team includes physician, child specialist, gynecologist and GDMO. The first phase of the scheme was launched by Chief Minister on September 02 while the second phase would start on October 02. For the second phase the department has constituted 3 teams each for Garhwal and Kumaon divisions where 66 camps each would be organised. Apart from examining patients in remote areas the doctors in these camps are also referring patients to the higher centres for treatment under Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojna (MSBY).
