With floods and disaster scenarios caused by heavy rains already having affected different parts of the State, the Flood Control, Rainwater Harvesting, Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj held a review meeting with officials and directed officials concerned to take steps for flood protection, stressing that departmental negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
Maharaj directed officials to identify flood prone areas. Coordinating with district disaster management offices, they were directed to list the vulnerable places and take effective measures for flood control.
The need of the hour is to take it seriously, he said.
Contacting the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing and Uttarakhand Space Application Centre, a satellite survey should be conducted and flood prone areas should be monitored.
Officials were also directed to maintain coordination with the Central Water Commission.
