While paying homage to former Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat revealed that when Tiwari was the Chief Minister, an attempt to topple his Government with the support of 28 MLAs had been planned but not executed.
Observers are wondering whether he had attempted to send a veiled message by revealing this.
Reminiscing about Tiwari, Harak Singh Rawat said that following the Jenny controversy, he was unhappy with Tiwari. After the scandal during 2003 preparations were made to topple the Tiwari Government with the support of 28 MLAs in total.
However, former CM Vijay Bahuguna arranged a meeting between Rawat and Tiwari after which the situation was diffused.
Rawat recalled that even after knowing about the attempt to topple him, Tiwari had behaved politely with him.
