A Congress member of the State Cabinet will be available once a week at the Congress Bhawan to address problems and other issues of party workers and the general public.
On the other hand, two party members will be assigned tasks in the Chief Minister’s office to enable better communication between the party organisation and the Congress-led State Government, said the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, Upadhyay informed about the decisions taken recently in the meeting of the party’s state coordinating committee which was held in New Delhi on August 24.
He said that as per the directions of the party leadership and the proposal given by chief minister Harish Rawat, one Congress cabinet minister will be present at the Congress Bhawan at least once a week to receive grievances and issues raised by party workers and members of the general public.
The cabinet member will work towards redressal of the issues raised by party workers and citizens.
Similarly, two Congress members will be selected to liaison at the Chief Minister office to coordinate between the party workers and the State Government. Their tasks will also include scheduling meetings of party workers with the chief minister so as to facilitate redressal of the issues raised by them.
As part of its preparations for the coming Vidhan Sabha elections, the party organisation will form teams to undertake activities from September in all the 70 Vidhan Sabha constituencies under the five lok Sabha constituencies of the State.
These teams will raise public awareness on the various welfare schemes and achievements of the Congress-led State Government while also informing the voters about the allegedly anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government and its purported bias against interests of the state.
Upadhyay said, “In September our party workers will conduct Sankalp Yatra in all the five lok Sabha constituencies constituted of 14 Vidhan Sabha constituencies each.
The campaign groups will stay one day in each of the Vidhan Sabha constituencies addressing public meets to inform the people of the various achievements of the State Government while also exposing the failures of the BJP-led Union Government,” he said.
Elaborating further, the PCC chief said that the tour would last about a fortnight each in five lok Sabha constituencies.
The PCC chief and chief minister will lead the Sankalp Yatra which will be flagged off in the parliamentary constituencies from the birthplaces of renowned personalities. State cabinet members, party MlAs, PCC office bearers and others are also expected to be present on the occasion.
