If all goes well, very soon the people of Haridwar industrial area might get relief from the long traffic snarls during monsoon season and weekends. The Urban Development minister and Haridwar city MlA Madan Kaushik has agreed to this and conducted an inspection of the site. The Minister has also assured that the proposal for the project would be sent soon.

Briefing the cabinet minister about the problems being faced by the people especially in the Haridwar Industrial area, the president of Haridwar Industrial Development Association, Prabhat Kumar said, “On an average 40 trains pass from the railway crossing near Tibdi on a daily basis. For most of the times due to the closing of the level crossing, there is traffic jam on both the sides which extends upto three kilometres near Rishikul area. To add to the woes of commuters, during the rainy season when the underbridge at Bhagat Singh Chowk gets submerged, the whole of traffic is diverted from this Tibdi crossing,” he informed.

The only solution to escape such chock-o-block situations on the road with the level crossing is to facilitate the construction of a road overbridge. The whole of the traffic from Shivalik Nagar, SIIDCUl industrial estate, Roshanabad and Bilwakeshwar colony passes through this route which faces the trouble. The heavy load of traffic on this route makes it all the more important that necessary developments are made here in order to resolve the problem of traffic congestion.

Speaking to The Pioneer, the Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik said, “The local residents and the industrialists are facing problems due to long traffic snarls. I have inspected the site and very soon the officials of the department concerned shall be sending a detailed project report regarding this.”

It should also be mentioned here that since the city Mayor’s office is also located on the same route, the people are confident that the proposal shall get the green signal soon.
