The Ambassador of Mexico to India, Jaime Nualart, was on a day long visit to the campus of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), where he learnt about the university, its academic and infrastructural facilities in Dehradun.
latin American nations including Mexico are poised for considerable growth in the major sectors of energy, infrastructure and transportation. Mexico in particular has large reserves of oil and gas but had adopted the course of nationalisation since the past almost 75 years and since then this sector has so far being largely controlled by the government. The growth journey of latin America has already commenced and Mexico with its young leadership coming to the fore, have also made a policy decision of involving the private sector by leveraging through its participation in all core sectors including oil and gas sector.
UPES Director (Media Affairs) Arun Dhand said that the Mexican Ambassador to India had learnt about some of the achievements of UPES and its existing international alliances and was eager to conduct a personal assessment of the capabilities of UPES including the academic and infrastructural facilities available.
“The Ambassador carefully went through the details of various industry specific courses being offered in UPES both on the engineering side and on the management side. The Ambassador has advised UPES management to align itself with “PEMEX” the largest government sector undertaking of Mexico in the oil and gas sector to leverage on the job and internship opportunities for UPES students. He has assured that his office will facilitate the UPES interface with PEMEX. He has also assured the university that his office will give all possible cooperation to UPES in developing relations with the top three universities of Mexico which include ‘Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Mexico” and ‘Institudo Poltecnico Nacional” being the public universities and “Institudo Technologico Y De Estudios Superiores De Monterrey being the university in the private sector,” averred Dhand.
