The trend of the mercury  soaring up might be arrested for a couple of days as the Meteorological centre has forecast rain/thunder showers at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Friday.

Meanwhile, gathering of clouds in the sky since the afternoon ensured the   maximum temperature of Dehradun dipping by a few degrees on Thursday.

While the maximum temperature settled at  30.6 degree Celsius the minimum hovered  at 16.0 degree Celsius in the city on the day.  The highest maximum temperature of the state 34.8°C was recorded at Rudraprayag while the lowest minimum temperature 6.8°C was recorded at Matela in Amora district. By 8.30 am on Thursday, very light rainfall was recorded at isolated places in the state, Met officers said.

Uttarakhand meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that the climate will again change from March 19 thanks to the advent of a fresh though feeble western disturbance which is now approaching the western Himalayan region.

“It will trigger the wet spell in the higher reaches of Chamoli and some other districts for a couple of days from March 20,” he said.

As per the chart sent by the weather department, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 32.5 degree Celsius and 13.2 degree Celsius, respectively. In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 16.4 degree Celsius and 8.8 degree Celsius.

In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 19.6 degree Celsius and 11.6 degree Celsius respectively.
