While the State’s political pot is on the boil awaiting the floor test on Tuesday and its aftermath more rains are in store for it in the coming days. This is what Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast for the State. It would rain at many places from May 10 to May 13. Met office has issued warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand, especially in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal and Dehradun districts, during next 72 hours starting from the morning of May 10.

More  good news for  the State which has just wriggled itself out of the unprecedented scale of the forest fire that engulfed and reduced to ashes a fairly vast swathe of the State’s forested lands. The rainfall which is being reported from various parts of the State, especially from the mountainous parts for the past many days, has resulted in the ground water being recharged.

Met director Bikram Singh said that a trough from Punjab to Northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger the rains from May 10 and May 13. A Western Disturbance (WD) is also likely to move across Afghanistan, North Pakistan and Northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir during the three days to result in more drops. If things remain favourable for the spell it might drag to two more days till May 15.

The spell has helped the mercury come down to the near normal or below normal levels. The maximum temperatures are likely to dip further in the coming days under the impact of the approaching rains, the weathermen said.

Singh said that the weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Tuesday is light to moderate rain/thunderstorm at many places. A warning has been issued of heavy rainfall at isolated places, especially across Garhwal region, during next 72 hours starting from Tuesday.
