Met predicts light rainfall across State

The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast the possibility of light rainfall at isolated places across the State, including a slight possibility of rain with thunderstorm in Dehradun till October 10.

Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Vikram Singh said that the monsoon season is currently in its final phase and it is only a matter of few days before the monsoon retreats from the State. The retreat of monsoon, which normally begins by last week of September in Uttarakhand, has been delayed by two weeks or so this year.

This year, the State has so far received around 1,500 mm of rain between June 1 and October 6 as against the normal of 1213.3 mm. According to him, this is the last phase of seasonal rains as monsoon had already begun withdrawing. A low pressure area still lies over adjoining neighboring States which would result in scattered and sporadic rains at isolated places in the state till October 10, he added.

The met office has predicted mainly clear to partly cloudy sky and weather would remain mainly dry over Uttarakhand on Monday and Tuesday while on October 9, there is possibility of light to moderate (05-15 mm) rain/thunder shower at isolated places in Uttarakhand. On October 10, the Met office has forecast mainly clear to generally cloudy sky and light to moderate (05-15 mm) rain/thunder shower may occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand.
