Biting winter is a far cry now as the much-awaited winter rain would keep eluding the State till next week. However, things would start changing from the second week of December, said Met director Bikram Singh. The minimum temperature might dip by five to six degree Celsius after it rains, he added.  As of now, minimum temperature is hovering around 10 degree Celsius in Dehradun district.  He further said that the winter rain might help offset the adverse impact left by scanty or no rain on the cultivation of the Rabi crops and fruits.

He also forecast shallow or dense fog during the morning/night hours at many places in the plains of Uttarakhand, especially in Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Haridwar districts, in the next three days.

The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Thursday is clear to partly cloudy sky. However, dry weather would prevail across Uttarakhand.

The Met office has issued advisory to the people, asking those who drive vehicles to take necessary precautions.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Thursday is mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 26ºC and 09ºC respectively in Dehradun on Thursday.

Singh said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 26.8ºC (three degree above the normal) and 10.2ºC (two degree above the normal) in Dehradun respectively while it was 16.8ºC (one degree above the normal) and 6.7ºC in Mukteshwar, 18.7ºC and 6.8ºC in Tehri and 27.4ºC (two degree above the normal) and 9.5ºC (two degree above the normal) in Pantnagar on Wednesday.
