Mercury touches 40 degree mark, no respite in sight

Published on:

Mercury keeps on soaring in Dehradun with the maximum having touched around 40 degree Celsius on Friday. According to the weathermen, the same weather would continue on Saturday with the possibility of the maximum temperature crossing 40 degree Celsius.

However, things might cool down a bit if thunder cloud forms. The meteorological centre based in Dehradun has not sounded very optimistic of rains occurring in the coming few days. The director of the centre Anand Sharma said the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be hovering in the neighbourhood of 40 degree and 22 degree respectively in Dehradun on Saturday.

There might be thunder cloud development in the afternoon on Saturday. However, the possibility is remote. Sharma further said rain or thunder storms might occur at isolated places across some of the state’s districts like Chamoli, Pitthoragarh, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.
