The minimum temperature in Dehradun dipped to 5 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, on Saturday. The climate is likely to remain dry on Sunday across the State, though there is a likelihood of the mercury plummeting further, particularly in the hills. The sky would be mainly clear to partly cloudy on the day and fog is likely to form in the plain areas of the State in the early morning hours, the weather officials said.
Meanwhile, Dehradun had a dry climate on Saturday. The day was mostly sunny. While the maximum temperature settled at 25.5 degree Celsius, four degrees above the normal, the minimum was 5.6 degree Celsius, two notches below the normal, on Saturday. The weather officers said that the maximum temperature might come down a little on Sunday.
Elsewhere in the State, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23 degree Celsius and 3.4 degree Celsius, three notches below the normal, respectively on Saturday. At Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 11.4 degree Celsius, three degrees below the normal, and 0.5 degree Celsius, again three notches below the normal. In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 15 degree Celsius and 2 degree Celsius respectively on the day.
As per the weather forecast, Dehradun might wake up to a foggy morning on Sunday. The climate would clear as the day advances. It would be generally sunny though the sky might be overcast for some time on the day. Notably, the maximum temperature had dipped by five notches in Dehradun on Thursday as an impact of the snowfall in the higher reaches and the rain/drizzle in the plains.
From now onwards, the trend would be of rising maximum and falling minimum temperatures unless western disturbances bring fresh bout of wet spell, said the Met officers.
