Some people in Fakot region of Tehri district have sent a memorandum addressed to the State Governor seeking execution of effective measures to resolve the rising human-wildlife conflict in the region.

The complainants said that talk of reverse migration in deserted mountainous regions and saving the agricultural land turning barren is of little import if the human-wildlife conflict is not resolved.

In a meeting attended by those active in the public sphere in Fakot, speakers expressed concern at the the damage being caused to farming due to the  rising human-wildlife conflict. They averred that farmers are turning away from agriculture due to the damage caused to the crops by wild boars and simians.

The Bharatiya Janata Party State council member Bhaskar Gairola stressed that the human-wildlife conflict needs to be resolved in order to protect agriculture in the mountainous regions. Panchayat  members and other locals were also among those who attended the meeting.
