In order to effectively stop the continued use of polythene in the area under the purview of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) a meeting with various stakeholders will be conducted on Tuesday. The Dehradun municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the meeting will be more like an open forum for people from different sectors to put across their suggestions and complaints.

Pandey said, “An estimated 150 people will be present during the meeting.

Members from merchant associations, residential welfare associations, non-governmental organisations and officers from pollution control board will also be there.

It will be like an open platform for them to give their suggestions and complaints and for us to put forward our plan.” He further said, “A lot of people also have issues about the categorisation of polythene.

They are confused that up to how many microns the polythene is banned. That will be explained in the meeting as well.”
