The Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat took a meeting for construction of laldhang- Chillarkhal motor road at his Vidhan Sabha office on Tuesday. He asked the officers concerned to undertake the project on a war scale. He said that work on project is stalled due to litigation. The forest department had granted a work of Rs 85 lakh on the road but the contractor did not have the payment due to which he went to the court.
The Minister directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and Engineer in Chief of PWD to evaluate the work done by the contractor and release his pending payment within a time period of one week so that the legal hurdles in the project are removed.
Rawat informed that a sum of Rs 7 crore is sanctioned by PWD for the road stretch of 11 KMs between laldhang to Chillarkhal. The National Wildlife Board has given conditional clearance that 7 KM road should be based on soil stabilization technique and remaining stretch of 4 km should be an elevated one.
The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Rajendra Kumar Mahajan, Additional Secretary Forest Meenakshi Joshi and Engineer in Chief of PWD H K Upreti and others.
