The officiating Commandant of Indian Military Academy (IMA), Major General, Y S Mahiwal awarded the outstanding Gentlemen Cadets (GC) who excelled in various categories in their pre-commissioning training at the Academy on Wednesday.
The officiating commandant handed over Parachute regiment medal to Ravi Somanagouda Mulimani for GC adjusted best in endurance and physical toughness. Anubhav Dalal was presented IX GR medal for standing first in Military studies while Sikh regiment silver medal was awarded Abhishek Kumar Singh for being the best sportsman of the group. The Maratha light Infantry medal was presented to Ramazoni Mukhridin for best Personal Turnout. The Rajput regiment silver medal was presented to Shinjan Chakraborty. The Brigade of Guards Medal for GC adjusted best in service subject was conferred upon Vaibhav Mishra while Yogesh was adjusted best GC in tactical ability and was presented Raj Riffle medal. Veer Singh Yadav was adjusted best shot in INSAS rifle of the Passing Out Contingent (POC) and was given Grenadiers trophy.
The eligible Foreign Gentleman Cadets (FGC) from Friendly Foreign Countries including, Afghanistan, Maldives, Tajikistan, Sri lanka and Nepal, who have successfully qualified Military strategy and Defence Management Examination were awarded diploma and certificate by Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) PK Grag.
In his address the officiating commandant, Major Gen Mahiwal congratulated the prize winners and expressed utmost confidence on the leadership potential of the gentleman cadets to shoulder responsibility in the future.
The term ending award ceremony of IMA is being held in high esteem by the GC. The GC are exposed to weapon training, warfare tactics, drill and multifarious activities aimed towards making them battle ready and teach them various skills to make them worthy of executing various responsibilities and tasks with utmost professionalism. During the grueling training the GCs are encouraged to achieve excellence at individual level and contribute constructively in team effort to infuse a sense of comradeship amongst them. Award of individual medals and rolling trophy have been instituted which marks the highest standard achieved at individual and company level.
