The State Government’s decision to stop the activities of the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam limited (UPRNNl) has affected the studies of students of the Government Doon Medical College. The UPRNNl was entrusted the task of construction of building of medical college. The second Year MBBS students of the college are facing problems due to absence of laboratory facility.
The work on laboratories is almost complete but the ban imposed by the Government has stalled the work. For second year MBBS students’ laboratories of Pharmacology, biochemistry and micro biology are needed. The college authorities have purchased the required equipment and machines needed for these labs but in absence of lab the students are not able to do the practical aspects of their studies. The Principal of the GDMC, Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta said that the pending work in the laboratories would soon be completed.
He, however, denied that the studies of the students are being affected by it. Dr Gupta claimed that the practicals of the second year students are being conducted in other laboratories. The classes of the second year students of college started in the month of September this year.
The students and their parents of the college are now resting their hopes on the ensuing visit of the team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for necessary action. “The studies of the students are being affected. We presumed that the college being situated in the state capital would be better managed. However the problem of faculty and resources are still persisting.
We hope that the administration would take necessary action before the visit of MCI team,’’ said father of a II year student of the college.
The team of the apex body of medical education in last visit has pointed many issued which needed immediate action.
