Acknowledging that people and builders use various methods to undertake unauthorised constructions, officials of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority stated that the authority is not being complacent towards such constructions.
The MDDA plans to seal two complexes in different parts of the city on Friday with work being undertaken to mark unauthorised constructions in the area under the purview of the MDDA.
According to observers, there is a rise in cases wherein people, especially owners of commercial buildings are erecting large banners of canvas sheets to conceal unauthorised constructions to extend the number of floors in such buildings. However, the MDDA secretary Banshidhar Tiwari rejected the presence of such malpractices stressing that the authority is alert and not complacent towards unauthorised constructions. "We will be sealing two buildings for violating regulations on Friday. While one of these buildings is located on Rajpur Road, the other is situated on Sahastradhara Road. In both the cases, the building maps were approved for residential purpose but the constructions are now being altered for commercial purpose. I had also directed the MDDA engineers to present a sector-wise report of unauthorised constructions and this work is under process with development on this front expected to be seen in the next couple of days," he said.
