The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has issued sealing notices to 20 wedding points in different parts of the State capital for various violations. However, MDDA officials point out that wedding points which are compounded by the owners on time will not be sealed.
Observers point out that wedding point owners might avoid sealing of their enterprises by getting these compounded by the MDDA but the problems being faced by the public due to anomalies at the wedding points will not be resolved.
According to the MDDA secretary Banshidhar Tiwari, sealing notices were issued to owners of 20 wedding points in the city. "The owners have been warned that the wedding points will be sealed for varied violations on June 20 and 26. However, the owners who get their wedding point compounded before then will prevent the sealing of their enterprise," he said.
However, concerned citizens point out that wedding points in different areas of the city continue to create various problems like traffic congestion, noise pollution, improper garbage disposal and civic nuisance. During marriage programmes, traffic jams are common outside the wedding points that have the required parking facility for vehicles of guests.
