A total of 135 mechanic shopkeepers were presented allotment letters for plot in Transport Nagar by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) on Tuesday. The agitation of the mechanics had ended in October last year after the lottery system was used to allocate kiosk/type C shops to them.
Speaking on the occasion, MlA Rajkumar said that ensuring justice for all is a priority of the State Government. The land plots are being allocated as per the promise made by the Government in the past, he said.
With mechanics being shifted from the centre of the city to Transport Nagar, the citizens will see a cleaner city, added Rajkumar. The MDDA vice chairman R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary Banshidhar Tiwari, former MDDA member Mangesh Kumar and Transport Nagar Truck Mechanical Welfare Society head MH Guddu were also among those present on the occasion.
It is worth mentioning here that the members of the TNTMWS had staged staged a relay hunger strike at the old MDDA office on Pritam Road in 2010 demanding swift relocation.
