Following the collapse of a restaurant building in Kuanwala, the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has set up an inquiry into how the building was constructed without the building map being approved by the authority. The authority has deputed one of its assistant engineers to inquire into this and the status of other nearby buildings.
It should be mentioned here that the building map of the restaurant building that collapsed recently at Kuanwala killing and one and injuring six, had not been passed by the MDDA. According to the MDDA secretary Prakash Chandra Dumka, the building map had been received in the past for approval but had not been approved due to some shortcomings.
The authority has set up an inquiry to ascertain how this building was constructed without its map being approved. The status of nearby buildings will also be checked. Penalisation and other necessary action will be taken by the MDDA in case of any other building found to have been constructed without the map being approved by the authority, he stressed.
