The anxious wait of authorities of Doon Medical College (DMC) here for the team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the re-inspection of facilities continues. The team which was likely to visit the DMC in first week of April is now expected after April 16.

One of a top official associated with the DMC informed The Pioneer that the team of MCI is expected after the aforesaid date as generally the MCI visits during the working days and as Navratri week is currently in progress which has number of vacations it is believed that the inspection would be held after April 16.

The college authorities, however, are working on war footing so that the team is presented a rosy picture. The Director Medical Education Dr Ashutosh Syana told The Pioneer that preparations are complete for the inspection. The Principal of the College Dr Pradeep Bharati Gupta had already imposed a moratorium on leaves of the staff members in wake of the inspection.

Meanwhile former Minister of Medical Education Harak Singh Rawat and rebel Congress MlA Subodh Uniyal made a surprise visit to the Dehrakhas based building of the college on Saturday and expressed satisfaction on the preparations.

It is worth mentioning here that a team of MCI which had visited the college and associated hospital of DMC on January 5 and 6 had listed many shortcomings in facilities and asked the college authorities to get them rectified soon.   In its plea before the MCI in a hearing held on February 12, the authorities of DMC had requested for one month’s time from MCI to remove the shortcomings listed by it. This request of DMC was accepted by the apex body.
