Taking a serious note of the alleged scam involving the building of Children Play Zone in Gandhi Park in the city, the municipal commissioner Dehradun Vijay Kumar Jogdande directed the additional municipal commissioner Neeraj Joshi to probe the case.
Notably, an RTI reply highlighted that the expenses incurred by the corporation in buying different games, tube lights and benches were four times higher than the normal market rates, a revelation that prompted the civic body officers to take a serious note of the alleged irregularities involved in the project undertaken under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation Project (AMRUTP) which had started around two years ago. The reply further revealed that some senior MCD officials who were assigned with the execution of the project had cleared tender which had a much overpriced quotation. Speaking about the matter, the municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that things had come to the fore through a newspaper. “We have promptly acted on it and ordered the additional municipal commissioner Neeraj Joshi to probe the case,” he said.
“The total amount pegged for the project was Rs 1.5 crore. We are yet to clear it. We are probing things and if it is proved that some of the items used for the project were overpriced we would not pay.
