MCD to issue 20 more notices for public property defacement

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is going to issue notices to 20 people and institutions who have pasted posters on the walls and public property for advertisement purposes. The MCD issued these notices to 20 people earlier this month too which makes it a total of 40 till date.

“People have pasted posters and flyers on public properties which is against the Uttaranchal Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2003, thus we have issued notices to these people and institutions.

We had earlier issued notices to 20 people and are going to issue notices to 20 more under this act,” said deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma.

“Around four to five people have come up to pay the fine and a number of them have even removed the banners and posters from the walls,” he said. The MCD has warned that actions will be taken against those who will fail to comply by the guidelines. The process of issuing notices to such people and institutions started after the complaints were made by the concerned citizens of Dehradun.

The requests were made to the municipal corporation to take strict actions against those who are defacing the public property for the advertisement sake.
