The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is to collect the data on government lands in the newly added 40 wards. As per the officials of the MCD, a letter has been given to the district magistrate (DM) SA Murugesan seeking data of the government land to the MCD especially of the newly added 40 wards.
Adding further in this municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “We have the data of the government land in the old 60 wards. However in the newly added 40 wards we do not have similar record. We recently sent a letter to the DM asking to provide the data to us. It is under process and will be given to us soon.”
It is important to mention that in the month of January this year MCD started to collect the data of the land from the panchayats of the newly added wards. However, it somehow failed and the government land data collection in the newly added wards stopped. MCD currently has data of 60 wards, based on which municipal teams conduct inspections and act on complaints of encroachment and related issues accordingly.
“We have a team which is assigned to keep a check in the encroachment especially on the government lands in 60 wards. For the 40 wards, we do not have the proper data but we get complaints of encroachments. It will be good if we get the data of the newly added wards from the DM office as collecting this data using our team from is a tough task,” an official in charge added.
