The task of cleaning up the garbage from the old trenching ground on Sahastradhara Road was resumed by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Friday after five months for the construction of Sainya Dham.
The garbage that includes a considerable amount of non-biodegradable trash of over ten years will require strenuous efforts from the corporation for its proper disposal.
The Dehradun municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the work of cleaning and levelling the ground is presently being done there.
As stated earlier by Pandey, the bioremediation procedure will be used to treat the garbage accumulated there for over a decade. After the garbage of the whole trenching ground is accumulated at a single place, it will be treated with the help of trommels which will separate the trash into the forms of refuse derived fuel (RDF), compost and inert waste, as stated by Pandey.
Further, the official sources also informed that at present, instead of focussing on the whole trenching ground, the corporation will be cleaning and levelling only five Bigha land where Sainya Dham is supposed to be built and after that, the capping technique will be used for the disposal of the garbage.
Meanwhile, Pandey said that the corporation will table the resolution of allocating the land for Sainya Dham in the next board meeting.
