The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun which is already suffering from a huge cash crunch is eyeing on various mediums to overcome its current financial crisis.

Constructing latest design police pickets at various places in the State capital might also prove as a financial booster for the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun.

As per the latest development plan of the MCD of 2014 around 50 police pickets would be constructed in the State capital this year.

These modern design pickets would be made up entirely of steel body. These police pickets would be constructed in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

As per Mukhya Nagar Adhikari at MCD, Ashok Kumar, the proposal for the construction of police pickets was already passed in the last MCD board meeting.

The proposal also received approval of the officials in the board meeting. But the tender for this work is still to be passed and further work would only be started once the tender is passed.

Kumar said that total 50 police pickets would be constructed at various places of the town but the sites are still to be marked.

The work of earmarking the places would be done only after the tenders are passed. He mentioned that the work is likely to be started in two or three months.

However, officials at MCD are also assuming that in one or other way these police pickets would help in boosting the economy of the corporation.

According to Kumar, these police pickets would also be used as advertising spaces which would become an important source of adding to the revenues of MCD.

Additional Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (AMNA), Uday Singh Rana stated that these works including construction of police pickets and several parks in the State capital are part of the development and beautification plan for the town and would be started soon.
