The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is planning to expedite its various development projects in the year 2014.

Sharing its achievements made in the year 2013, MCD officials counts the introduction of online taxation system to be its biggest achievement made by the MCD officials in the last year.

Though the service is yet to be started but the MCD officials claimed that the online taxation service would began most probably in the coming two or three days.

Talking about its futuritic development plans for the coming year Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, Ashok Kumar stated that the development related issues would be in the priority list of the MCD.

Major focus would be given to the maintenance work of the roads and nullahs of

the town.

Beautification of the city would also be the major concerned areas of the MCD.

Development of parks at Dehrakhas, construction of statues of various eminent personalities at major places of the city, development of vendors zone would be in the list of the MCD development plan in the coming year.

Introduction of water conservation project and completion of the total 68 bus shelters in the town would be some other target works of MCD.

As part of its beautification works, MCD is also planning to construct around 50 steel made police booths in the town. Interestingly, major of these development works would be done under PPP mode, maintained Kumar.

He also added that meeting this target with such less amount of budget would surely be a challenge for MCD. Additional Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (AMNA), Uday Singh Rana claimed that the biggest achievement of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) of 2013 is the introduction of online tax payment in the state capital.

He stated that the data collection works in around 8-10 wards are already completed and the tax payment service in these wards would probably be initiated in two or three days. While stating the major challenges of MCD for 2014, he said that maintaining the sanitation arrangement of the town would be one of the major challenges for the officials. Currently, the main focus of MCD is to augment its revenue sources and by handling the sanitation arrangement of around 20 wards of the city, MCD has saved the tipping fees of these 20 wards.

Bringing the degrading sanitation works on the track in coordination with the company Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) is another challenging work for MCD.

Around 13-14 vehicles of MCD are still to be mend and possibly this work would be completed within three to

four days.

In the coming year, MCD would also plan to complete the electrification work in all the recently formed colonies in the state capital. He stated that MCD would try to put street lights in all these newly formed areas of the town.
