The Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli inaugurated a zonal office of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun in Rajpur area here on Wednesday. The office will facilitate various municipal works of 10 wards with eight officials being assigned to it. This  zonal office will look after tasks in the 10 assigned wards like birth and death registration, house tax collection, sanitation and work on schemes including National Urban livelihood Mission (NUlM) and Housing For All (HFA) apart from lodging complaints of the citizens related to municipal affairs.

Informing about this the Dehradun municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande said, “Due to the expansion of population and area of wards under the MCD, proper governance had become a tougher task for us. To resolve this we decided to make zonal offices and assign at least 10 to 15 wards to each zonal office. At present, we have inaugurated this zonal office in an existing building of the municipal corporation. This zonal office will look after tasks in 10 municipal wards. This will not only make it easy for us to discharge our tasks but will also make it convenient for the public as now they will not have to travel farther but able to get tasks done and their complaints addressed in the zonal office."

Public representatives, additional municipal commissioner Neeraj Joshi and others were also present on the occasion.
