The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun MCD) is likely to start the online tax payment services for the tax payers from February. The website has already been created, but currently, it is being used by the officials to feed the data of the people according to the wards they are from. The service also gives a facility of messages through which the taxpayers can learn about the current status of his/her payment. Adding more, the tax and revenue superintendent Dharmendra Painuly said, “The website is almost ready, but currently we are using it to feed information and data regarding the tax payments and the payers as per the wards they live in. We are also updating the phone numbers of the people so that we can send messages to all the taxpayers about their tax payment status. The website is likely to open for the people from February which would make it very easy for the taxpayers to pay tax from anywhere. It is very easy to operate as well. What the taxpayer has to do is to select the ward and name and they would get all the details from the website online. This online system would also make the tax payments easy for the people having property in Dehradun but not living here.”
Some councillors who came to MCD a few days ago to enquire into tax payments camps to be held in various wards stated on Tuesday that such camps are imperative particularly for the elderly people as they are forced to come to the office and pay tax.
Queried over the matter, Painuly said, “We are aware of such request from the councillors. Things are being sorted out now. Presently, we have a proper website to access. It is now easy to collect tax from any ward without any problem. We can take the systems with us.”
