Improving the situation in areas which experience water logging, ensuring the safety of those living along the Rispana and Bindal rivers and maintaining the desired level of civic sanitation are the major challenges being faced by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, said the city Mayor Vinod Chamoli.
It is pertinent to mention here that record breaking rainfall experienced in Dehradun on June 16 had not only caused severe water logging on roads and in buildings but also caused collapse of safety walls and homes along the Rispana and Bindal rivers. Those living on the banks of these two rivers were temporarily shifted to safer locations till the waters of the rivers dropped.
However, the monsoon which arrived early in the State has just started and is expected to last at least two more months. Chamoli said that redressing problematic factors in areas which experienced water logging and work on the Rispana and Bindal rivers to mitigate threat to those living on their banks, are major challenges faced by the MCD.
