Accusing Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ of not being present in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun MCD premises during the morning hours, councillors from various wards stated that his absence is affecting the development works of the city.
They further said that not only councillors but the local people also face many difficulties because officials including the municipal commissioner are not present in their office on time.
However, the mayor has refuted the allegations regarding his absence. Councillor from Rest Camp, Archana Kapoor said, “Quite often the mayor is not present in his office during the morning hours. We are tired of repeatedly visiting MCD and not being able to meet the mayor as he is not present in the office.
It is quite obvious that not only the councillors but local people also reach MCD during morning time but because officials and mayor remain absent everyone has to go back without being able to meet them for official work.”
Another councilor, Mahendra Singh Rawat from Rajiv Nagar said, “We have been regularly visiting the mayor’s office for the last three-four days but no one is present there. The absence of the mayor has affected the development work in the city.” However, the mayor denied the allegations. He said, “I fail to reach the office only if I have some programmes lined up. If any councillor or local people have any such trouble with the timing then they can contact me. Time arrangement in the morning shifts will be done accordingly.”
