Although the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) started taking strict actions against the people and institutions for placing construction material and debris on the roads earlier this month, the people of the city are yet to follow the rules.
The MCD imposed penalties on three people/institutions on Wednesday. A fine of Rs 15,000 was collected from the three for placing construction material and debris on the main roads. The drive started from Tehsil Chowk to EC Road via Kalidas Road.
Two trolleys of construction material were seized, out of which one trolley consisted of bricks and the other was of debris. The drive was started by the MCD after it was noticed that the construction materials placed on the main roads was becoming a hindrance for commuters and was disrupting the flow of traffic.
The Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has been requesting the public not to keep any construction material or debris on the main roads of the city as it is acting against the vision of ‘Green and Clean Doon’.
Strict actions will be taken against those people/institutions who will not abide by the guidelines. He also requested the public to inform the MCD if any kind of construction material is found outside buildings or houses.
Citizens can contact the MCD by directly calling on the number 8047097506 or through the medium of Swachhta application MOHUA.
However, observers point out that despite the drive being undertaken by the MCD, people have still not seemingly understood basic regulations and continue to flout these.
