The officials from the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) have started to collect data of the lands which lies under the newly added 40 wards of the civic body.
It is learnt that a number of staff members of the civic body has been entrusted for the task to collect and compile the data from all the panchayats located in the specific wards.
According to the officials, three teams have been formed to collect and combine the data of the land coming under the geographical area of the MCD. They further said that presently the work to collect the data has been in its initial phase.
“We are collecting data from all the panchayats situated in the newly added 40 wards. We have received data from 21 wards, including Nehrugram, Ladpur, Harawala, Banjarawala, Mokhampur and Nakronda. The demarcation and measurement of the government land would be done after the first step is cleared. The illegal encroachments would be checked once the proper recording of the government lands is done,” added a civic body officer.
The officers further said that they still lack the required number of patwaris for the purpose. “Nothing positive has happened so far on the matter. We are waiting for some initiatives,” said an officer.
The officers said that the situation warrants more patwaris being appointed to have the work completed smoothly.
“The work to collect and compile the data of the government land in the newly added wards is a difficult task. The dearth of the required number of patwaris might slow things down. We must remember the fact that all the newly added 40 wards are to be covered under the work we have taken upon,” a civic body officer added.
