The municipal corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has given permission to the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) for the free opening of the Children Play Zone at Gandhi Park for the deprived children. The park is most likely to be open on Friday for two hours from 12 pm to 2 pm to give such children the special facility.
The commission had sought such permission from the civic body in June and it was pursuing the matter since. The members of the commission expressed happiness over the civic body clearing decks for the free entry of the unprivileged children to the park. The park as well as the rides in the parks will be free for the children for two hours on Friday. However, the permission of the District Magistrate is also needed. Seeking the approval, the commission has written a letter to the DM on Wednesday.
An officer of the commission said, “The initiative was to give a good environment to the children with the deprived background. The municipal corporation has acceded to our request which has cleared the first step. The second one is approval from the district magistrate seeking which we have sent a letter. After the completion of the second step, the park is most likely to remain open for the poor children on Friday for two hours from 12 to 2 pm.”
He, further, said that they would ask the people running the shelter homes to plan a visit of the children in the park so that they can enjoy the various rides. “They would surely enjoy the rides,” he added.
