MCD claims to withdraw from 20 DVWM wards

Published on:

Following the poor performance of the Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) company, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) had recently announced withdrawal of sanitation work in around 20 wards from DVWM.

But nothing as such has been done at ground level and the company is still holding the charge of all the 60 wards of the State capital.

MCD officials are also claiming that they had taken away the charge of all sanitation works in 20 wards from the company and had deployed

the MCD staff to look into the sanitation responsibility of these wards.

Meanwhile, the company officials claim that they are still holding the sanitation responsibility in all the 60 wards of the town.

Siddharth Jain, CEO of the company said that MCD has no right to take away even a single ward from the company. He also claimed that MCD officials still seem to be unaware of the agreement between the company and MCD.

He said that as per the agreement there is no such clause mentioned in the MoU related to the withdrawal of the wards.

Jain also said that they still have not handed over the responsibility of 20 wards to the MCD and the sanitation works are still being carried on by the company employees in all the 60 wards of the town.

Blaming the company for the deteriorating level of the sanitation works in the town, Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, Ashok Kumar maintained

that MCD has given another chance to the company to improve its performance and if no changes are noticed in its work performance,

MCD would be bound to adopt stringent action against the company and later might also take away the responsibilities of all the wards.

He also stated that the company doesn’t even perform the sanitation work in densely populated areas and wards.

Most of the sanitation works are still carried on by the MCD, claimed Kumar.

Meanwhile, leader of Opposition at MCD, Ninu Sehgal stated that MCD wants to work in coordination with the DVWM and has also paid some of the due amount  to the company on Friday.

He also stated that no wards would be withdrawn from company if it performs well and maintains proper sanitation arrangement of the city. He added that MCD would provide its full assistance and support to the company.
