Taking note of the objection being raised by the councillors over the rationale behind dividing 100 wards into five zonal offices while citing the point that it is difficult for some people to reach their assigned offices, the officers of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) stated that every person is free to file their complaint or query in any of offices they find convenient to reach.
Notably, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) had recently divided 100 wards into five zonal offices, a move the councillors from various wards have raised objection to.
The officers further stated that the decision of dividing wards and setting up one zonal offices to cater to some wards had been taken to make things easier for the people. “We might incorporate changes in the system if things warrant so. We are focused on helping the common people living in the corporation area to easily reach us with queries and complaints,” said a civic body officer.
A few days ago, the councillors from various wards had expressed serious reservation over the MCD move for creating five zonal offices involving the 100 wards now under its jurisdictional limit. The councillors had said that the people living in some wards would find it very difficult to reach the allotted zonal offices. This would discourage the people from submitting complaints, going for certificates and other such works, they had said and added that the elderly people would find it the most difficult.
Clarifying their stance on the matter, an MCD officer said “There was a miscommunication regarding the zonal offices among the councillors.
All the zonal offices have been set up to help the common people. If one finds the zonal office far away, he can report at the main office or any zonal office they can reach. The officer concerned in the following zonal office would forward the problem or the query to us or the zonal office concerned.”
