Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli has strongly objected to what he called the actions of the Congress-led State Government to take credit for developmental works facilitated by the previous State Government headed by the BJP.
He said that the Congress had done little more than installing statues of Congress leaders in the compounds of two buildings, the work on construction which was started during the tenure of the BJP State Government.
Chamoli said that the Congress had tried to unfairly take credit for efforts of the previous Government by naming the multipurpose complex at Dispensary Road after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and installing his statue there.
The Mayor said that the construction of the MDDA complex was started by the BJP State Government and Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna named it after his father and former UP CM HN Bahuguna and installed his idol there.
Similar action was taken in the case of the building constructed by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority at Dispensary Road which was named after Rajiv Gandhi and his statue was installed there. He questioned what the Congress-led State Government had done to get these buildings constructed.
Chamoli said that the Congress had little to show for the developmental works executed since it came to power so it was busy taking credit for the development works facilitated by the BJP-led State Government.
lambasting the Congress of taking undue credit for developmental works in Dehradun, the Dehradun Mayor said that the BJP State Government had facilitated the construction of the lacchiwala overbridge but here too the Congress Government took credit for it.
Now, the State Government is planning to get a statue of former PM Indira Gandhi installed at the Indira market after it’s redevelopment.
The government is simply putting its stamp on development works facilitated by the BJP Government, said the Mayor.
