Max to organise cervical cancer screening camp from tomorrow

Published on:

With an objective to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer in Uttarakhand, Max Super Speciality Hospital (MSSH), Dehradun is organising a ‘cervical cancer screening camp’ from January 19–25 between 10am-2pm at its premises.

During camp the doctor consultation will be free and after January 25th the people can get discounts on cancer doctor consultation till March 25th. As part of this initiative, women from Dehradun and neighbouring regions can avail consultation with Dr Rudranath Talukdar, Consultant- Medical Oncology and Dr Akash Gaind, Consultant- Surgical Oncology. Women can also avail benefits on various screening tests like Mammography and ultra sonography screening, certain lab and radiology services.

Further to this camp, the hospital will also be observing 2-month ‘cancer awareness and screening month’ from January 26th to March 25th. Dr Gaind said that with greater awareness, it was possible to mitigate the damage done by this continuously-exploding bomb of cervical cancer. With proper education being imparted to women, we could reduce the incidence of cervical cancer whereas Dr Talukdar said that cervical cancer, like many lethal diseases is considered a silent killer. This would mean that the symptoms often didn't manifest until the disease has reached advanced stages where chances of survival are relatively slimmer.
