The Max Super Speciality hospital in Dehradun would soon start renal transplants, bone marrow transplant and radiation therapy services for the patients. The General Manager Operations of the hospital Gaurav Rekhi stated this while addressing the media persons on the completion of two years of its establishment on Monday.
Max healthcare extended its services to Uttarakhand by setting up a super speciality hospital in Dehradun on May 25, 2012. In these two years the hospital gave critical care to 5500 patients with a 30 per cent success ratio. Rekhi said the hospital gave free treatment to 81 BPl patients with an estimated cost of Rs30 lakh under its Max India Foundation (MIF). He said the hospital is offering free Out Patient Department (OPD) services at many places in the state and has undertaken 40 community outreach programmes under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. The hospital has a team of 100 expert doctors to cater to the needs of the people of the state and neighbouring areas. Rekhi said that with the advent of renal and bone marrow transplant services the patients of the state now will not have to travel to Delhi and other places. He said hospital is sending its Oncologist to United States of America for training to start the radiotherapy services for the cancer patients. He disclosed that 98 per cent of doctors in the hospital are from outside the city and about 70 per cent of its total patients are in tertiary care category. The hospital director and medical advisor, Dr A K Singh said that the hospital has made a name for itself in the tertiary care facility. He claimed that patients from foreign destinations like Iraq, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have shown faith in the super specialty facilities of the hospital. Singh said increasing number of people from other states are seeking treatment at the hospital as Dehradun is a better place to recover in than cities like Delhi. For medical community, Max hospital organises CMEs (Continuing Medical Education) and seminars so they are updated with the latest trends, Singh added.
