Dr Singh said, “It is our moral duty towards the society to create awareness about safe driving and I believe this is the first step towards it. Road traffic accidents, not only are amongst the top three causes of death worldwide, they also lead to a high percentage of disability in the survivors. In fact, accidents that can lead to brain & spinal cord injuries are the leading cause of disabilities worldwide, and we, in India, have the dubious distinction of being top of the list of per vehicle mile travelled. There are many causes for this trend  from badly designed roads to badly maintained vehicles to a lax licensing framework, to our utter disregard to obey traffic rules. we all follow the rules, that are designed for our own safety.’’

Dr Tanwar said,  “we have witnessed so many road traffic accident cases coming from different parts of Uttarakhand like Mussoorie, Vikasnagar, Haridwar, Roorkee and Poanta Sahib. Based on the patients that we consulted in the last 6 months, we found that due to lack of awareness and sensitivity to the traffic rules, the youth in the city put themselves and their families to a lot of physical, emotional and financial strains by falling a victim to RTA. ’’
