The GVK EMRI 108 ambulance service received maximum number of emergency calls from Dehradun district on Diwali. The emergency ambulance service received 559 calls on Diwali day out of which 152 calls were from Dehradun district alone. The data of the ambulance service clearly shows that maximum number of emergency cases was received from plain areas of the state.
The ambulance service received 71 cases from Haridwar and 64 emergency calls from Udham Singh Nagar district. It is a common observation that the number of cases of fire, road accidents and brawling increases on the Diwali day and the ambulance service personnel work overtime to respond to the emergency calls on the day.
In road accident cases also Dehradun district had lion’s share in the state. The data of the ambulance service show that 21 cases of road accidents were received from Dehradun while a total of 53 cases were registered from entire state on the day. The emergency service also received 17 cases of fire on Diwali day. Interestingly two babies were born in the moving ambulances on the Diwali day.
However the emergency ambulance service received much less number of emergency calls as compared to Diwali last year. The data shows that 685 cases were recorded by the ambulance service last year.
The state head of 108 service, Manish Tinku said that it is a matter of great pride that the personnel of the ambulance service worked with full commitment on the day when people celebrate the festival with their family members. He said that the ambulance service is determined to serve the people of the state.
