Massive rejig in State Secretariat

A massive reshuffle in the State Secretariat made on Tuesday has seen transfers of 13 Joint Secretaries, 17 Deputy Secretaries and 33 Under Secretaries. It is learnt from the Secretariat administration sources that the departments of most of such officers, who have completed three years in their respective posts, have been changed in the rejig exercise.

A story was published in The Pioneer, predicting such a huge rejig of the Secretariat administration after the Budget Session of the State Assembly was over.

Besides, departments of 50 Section officers, 97 review officers and 16 assistant review officers have been changed too.

Sources said that exercise being long overdue, the employees had succeeded to delay things through pressure put on the officers concerned.

The Budget Session coming in the way had also helped them cling to their respective posts for some more days.

However, some of the transferred officers and employees said that a few have been spared the transfer juggernaut, thanks to their right connection with the power that be.

Meanwhile, Secretariat Administration has asked those who have figured in the transfer list to report at their new places immediately without waiting for his/her relievers to arrive. It has also issued a warning, saying that if they fail to join the new departments their salaries might be withheld to be followed by disciplinary actions sans any showcause notice.
