The Government primary schools of the state would undertake a mass enrollment drive in a week long admission campaign. The campaign would start in all the schools of state on August 17.  The District Education Officers (DEO), Block Education Officers (BEO), block and cluster coordinators would visit the schools with fewer enrollments during the entire week and undertake measures to improve the number of students.
In a letter directed to all the district education officers the Primary education director Seema Jaunsari said that the drive is part of the enrollment campaign ‘Jan Jan ka Prayas- Shiksha Ka Vikas’. In the letter she congratulated the teachers for success of the one day campaign which was undertaken on April 06.The department claimed that more than 25000 students were enrolled in the one day campaign. The director has asked the education officers to ensure that all the children between age group 6 to 14 are enrolled in the schools. Expressing concern on declining number of students in Government schools despite facilities of free textbooks and Mid Day Meal (MDM), Jaunsari said that if the trend is not reversed then the number of vacancies of teachers could be reduced.
