Dehradun district police seem to be lacking in the basics of policing, resulting in spiraling crime graphs in the State capital. In an instance on late Friday night, criminals with masks on barged into the house of Rajiv Chauhan, a resident of Mothrowala in Nehru Colony and at gun point, decamped with a car, gold ornaments worth lakhs. A case has been registered in the Nehru Colony police station and a team has been formed and they began searching the accused.

Rajiv Chauhan, resident of Mothrowala, registered a complaint in the Nehru Colony and stated that four or five persons with masks on forced into his house and at gun point, decamped with gold ornaments, cash `20, 000 and a car. This incident occurred around 3.30 am on Saturday. Police station in-charge, PK Koshyari said that taking cognisance of the complaint, a case under section 394 was registered against unidentified persons in the Nehru Colony police station on Saturday. To solve the case, three teams, including that of Special Operation Group personnel, have been formed and one of them has been sent in the districts of Uttar Pradesh. Another team is working here to solve the case.

Crime cases are on the rise in the State capital over the past several months. Commenting on the rise in crime cases in the State capital, a senior police officer said police should conduct verification of the residents, especially in those areas where large number of migrants are residing. Police patrolling should intensify and police must seek cooperation from the people as every person is police sans uniform. Police should lay emphasis on developing its sources among the residents in the area too. This is the rudiment of policing to maintain peace and control the crimes, he added.
